Meet Your Welcome Center Staff!

Hello, I am excited to be your Welcome Center Office Manager! I earned two Bachelor's of Science degrees from Humboldt State University in Zoology and Marine biology and I have a Masters in Recreation and Tourism from here at CSUEB. My background is working with the public in an animal-based environment. I found that what I enjoyed most about my experience was the educational aspect and working with people so the transition to being a part of the Welcome Center team was a natural extension of that.

What I love about Cal State East Bay is the diversity, the views, and atmosphere. CSUEB is a beautiful campus where you immediately feel at home. Since it's a medium-sized university, you get the family-vibe without losing access to a myriad of programs and clubs. The SF Bay Area location is perfect for exploring the city, the woods, the ocean, or any places in between. Cal State East Bay represents the best the Bay Area has to offer! My favorite place on campus is the Starbucks in the Library, because of the coffee and books! My most played song is “California Love,” by 2Pac. My favorite quote du jour is "I never look back Darling; it distracts from the now!" from Edna Mode of "The Incredibles" because your tomorrow is what you make it, not what makes you. I hope you'll start your tomorrow with us at Cal State East Bay. See you on campus!

Aloha ka kou! I am from Maui, Hawaii. I am a Pre-Nursing major because my lifelong dream is to impact someone's life in a positive way, and I feel it would make me happy to help people on a daily basis. The transition from Maui to the Bay Area was huge, however I have yet to get homesick. All the people I have met at East Bay are so friendly and welcoming it made me feel like I found my own "Ohana" here. I chose East Bay for the diversity and the location is the heart of the Bay! My favorite quote that I live by is "Believing you will do well is half the battle" which is from my favorite show of all time, One Tree Hill. My favorite song is "Try" by Colbie Caillat because you do not have to try so hard, just be yourself.

I graduated high school at Baldwin High in Maui, Hawaii. As a Business major with an option in Public Relations, I chose this major because I feel Business is a broad major that will allow me to experience many different opportunities. At first it was difficult for me to adjust to college life because I was very homesick. But after classes started, I was able to really enjoy the college experience. The Business program is one of the best out of all the CSUs. Business was really the reason I came to The Bay. My favorite quote is, “Life is what happens to you while you’re busy making other plans.” by John Lennon. The song I play the most is "Always and Forever" by The Green, because it reminds me of home.

I am currently a senior at Cal State East Bay; my major is Business. I decided to pursue Business because I want to get into a marketing and advertising career. Transitioning to college was difficult at first but once I settled in, it’s been great. The reason why I chose CSUEB was because I love the diversity on campus and my twin sister plays soccer so I had to support her. My ultimate favorite quote is “Life goes on,” those three words are always a constant reminder I tell myself when I am going through a hard time because it’s not the end of the world and to always keep going and look forward. The most played song on my iPod is probably “Shake it Off” by Taylor Swift, no matter what I am doing that song will always put a smile on my face and get me up to dance.

I am a senior here at Cal State East Bay and my major is Recreation and Tourism. I am looking forward to being a Wedding Planner. My transition into college was a little bit difficult for me. I missed my family and the food from home, because I am several hours away, but the "college experience" was definitely worth the adjustment to come here. The reason why I chose Cal State East Bay was because I was recruited to play for the women’s award-winning soccer team. I received a partial scholarship, which helped seal the deal for me. The most played song in my iPod is "Latch" by Disclosure. I look forward to being a tour guide and showing students and their families around campus; I think you will love it!

I am a senior and my major is Graphic Design with minors in American Sign Language and Biology. I chose Graphic Design because it has always been a dream to work for Pixar or Disney. My transition to college was smooth and enjoyable. The courses here at CSUEB were challenging yet fun. Having resources on campus such as SCAA and tutors made it possible to succeed in any course. I chose Cal State East Bay because of the student environment on campus; everyone was so friendly when I toured the school my senior year in high school.

My favorite quote is, "All our dreams can come true, if we have the courage to pursue them." - Walt Disney. My most played song on my iPod is "Wadsyaname" by Nelly.

I am a senior majoring in Sociology because I really like meeting new people and listening to others to help them any way I can. My transition to college was initially very hard because I was the first person from my family to go to college. I eventually became independent and learned how to take on more responsibilities and rely on myself and just take action when it's time to get things done. I chose to attend Cal State East Bay because of its diversity. All the different types of people that you get to meet and interact with is great. My favorite quote is, "Don’t think about making life better for other people who don't deserve you, rather, focus on making your life the best, for yourself and those who love you." The song that is the most played in my iPod would be "State of Grace" by Taylor Swift.

I am currently a junior majoring in Biological Sciences with an option in Physiology; both fields of study are offered in the College of Science. With this major I am hoping to one day become a trauma surgeon. My transition into college was a bit difficult because I am from southern California: I had to adjust to a completely new environment, and I missed my family a lot. The reasons I chose to attend Cal State East Bay are because the university has the major I am interested in, some great programs and top notch professors, and the campus also has such beautiful and inspiring scenery. My favorite quote is “Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that takes our breath away.” The most played song on my iPod is “Soldier” by Gavin DeGraw.

I am a Sophomore who is pursuing a degree in economics. I became interested in this major because I want to study the market and help people use the available resources to them in the most efficient way possible. My transition to college was not very difficult however managing my money was considering the fact that I did not have much of it at first. There are several reasons as to why I chose Cal State East Bay a few include; it is recognized for its College of Business and Economics program, its affordability, the diversity the campus holds and of course I wanted some distance from home which is in Los Angeles. My favorite quote is “If Young Metro don’t trust you.” My most played song on my android is “These Walls” by Kendrick Lamar.

Hi! I am a sophomore here at Cal State East Bay, majoring in International Studies. I decided to pursue international studies because I want to have the ability to travel wherever I work.  My transition to college was a very smooth one due to the amazing support systems like EOP (Equal Opportunity Program) and all my amazing friends I have met here in college. The reason I choose CSUEB was the proximity to San Francisco and other great cities in the Bay Area and as well as the amount of Diversity on campus meaning that I always meet someone new everyday. My favorite quote is “Don’t mistake kindness for weakness” by Tori Kelly. My most played song is “Into You” by Ariana Grande. I love this song because whenever it is on I always jam out to it. Can’t wait to see you on campus!

Hello there! My name is pronounced as A-awn, everyone is always curious on that.  Currently I am a Junior in Political Science: Pre-Law option and Statistics. I chose my majors because I wanted to be as diverse and flexible as possible in the workforce to have as many possibilities available to me. I chose Cal State University East Bay because it was one of three universities that offered my specific major option of pre-law, and also because the university is located in a perfect location for opportunities, and provides beautiful scenery and weather, every day. My one piece of advice for incoming students is to take advantage of any student support programs that you are eligible for, as well as any additional services offered on campus, such as the Recreation and Wellness center, tutoring from the SCAA, et cetera. It really helps to stay motivated, and then also just stay on top of your reading and homework assignments to keep your edge throughout the quarter.

My favorite quote is from Aristotle, and you may recognize it from "Legally Blonde", it goes as follows "The law is reason free from passion."  And the most played song on my playlist is "Side to Side" by Ariana Grande."

Hello my name is Leuapoutasalina Leoso, I am a junior majoring in Computer Engineering. My transition into college was somewhat difficult because I am from Hawaii and I am a very family oriented person so to be far from my family for a long period of time was very hard to get use to. I was able to adjust easier with the help of my soccer teammates and friends that I made. I chose CSUEB because I got requited to play soccer at CSUEB. I fell in love with the view of the soccer field and till this day I personally believe it is the best view on campus.

My favorite quote is “When life changes to harder, changes yourself to be stronger.” –Unknown.
