Recreation and Wellness Center (RAW) Membership

2024 Fee Adjustment Announcement 

Effective Spring Semester 2024 the RAW fee schedule has been updated to reflect student fee adjustments effective this semester (January, 2024). Please note the new fee schedule below. Please also note our expanded hours of operation effective January 16, 2024.

Memberships can be purchased online via your RAW Portal or via your RAW Member App. All members are required to use their BayCard or RAW Member App Digital Barcode to enter the facility. See the chart below to find the membership option that is right for you. Membership includes access to the Recreation and Wellness Center and the ability to register for programs and services offered (read below for certain restrictions). Please explore our Policies and Procedures to familiarize yourself with expectations of members and other eligibility requirements (age, attire, etc.). 

Individuals must be eighteen (18) or older to purchase a membership and access the RAW (except current students).

Currently Enrolled Students (Fall/Spring Semesters)

No additional membership fee is required for Cal State East Bay students currently enrolled in one or more academic classes and having paid the "UU Rec Fee" listed as a part of their tuition fees. 
Note: University employees enrolled in courses via fee waiver are not eligible for the student membership option and are required to purchase a staff/faculty membership.

Student (Summer Semester)

During the summer, Cal State East Bay students enrolled in the preceding spring term and the subsequent fall term are eligible to purchase a membership at the same rate for enrolled students. These memberships can be purchased at the RAW Front Desk or online via their RAW Portal or RAW Member App. 

Post Bac/ALP/Cert. Program/Open University

Cal State East Bay students currently enrolled in academic classes and NOT paying the "UU Rec Fee" as a part of their tuition fees can purchase a membership at the RAW Front Desk or online via their RAW Portal or RAW Member App. This membership type serves those enrolled in the American Language Program, Open University, Post-Baccalaureate degrees and Certificate Programs. 

Faculty & Staff & Cal State East Bay Affiliates (Campus Contractors)

Faculty & Staff & Affiliates such ASI, Chartwells, and the Bookstore are eligible to purchase RAW memberships online via their RAW Portal or RAW Member App

Alumni

Cal State East Bay alums are eligible to purchase RAW memberships online via their RAW Portal or RAW Member App. Although alumni members are not eligible to participate in Intramural Sports and certain student wellness programs, they are eligible to participate in group fitness classes.  

Non-Matriculated Students

Students who are currently not enrolled but were enrolled in the prior semester or subsequent semester are eligible to purchase RAW memberships online via their RAW Portal or RAW Member App. Although non-matriculated students are not eligible to participate in Intramural Sports and certain student wellness programs, they are eligible to participate in group fitness classes.

Emeritus/Retiree

Employees who are no longer working at Cal State East Bay and earned emeritus or retiree status are eligible to purchase RAW memberships online via their RAW Portal or RAW Member App.

Sponsored Guests 

Guest of current student members can be sponsored accordingly. The sponsoring member must be present at the time of purchase. Student members can purchase sponsored guests memberships at the RAW front desk. Although sponsored guests are not eligible to participate in Intramural Sports and certain student wellness programs, they are eligible to participate in group fitness classes.  

Community Members

Members of the general community can purchase 30 day or 6 month memberships. Although community members are not eligible to participate in Intramural Sports and certain student wellness programs, they are eligible to participate in group fitness classes. Once their account has been created online via their RAW Portal, community members can purchase memberships via their portal or RAW Member App 

Conference Housing

Individuals who are confirmed to be part of a group or organization affiliated with conference services in the summer months are eligible to purchase RAW memberships during the organization's reservation/stay on campus. Once their account has been created online via their RAW Portal, conference housing members can purchase memberships online via their portal or RAW Member App by visiting the RAW Front Desk.

Recreation and Wellness Center Membership Terms and Conditions

1. The Recreation and Wellness Center is not a public facility. Therefore, members should be an affiliate of CSU East Bay or provide proof of purchase of a community membership.

2. Student Memberships to the Recreation and Wellness Center require a parent or guardian signature for anyone less than 18 years of age.

3. Memberships are non-transferable, non-refundable and membership fees cannot be prorated at the time of purchase, nor extended due to facility closures. Reference our hours and location page for information about planned closures.

4. Individuals that engage in any unacceptable or disruptive behavior (as determined by RAW center staff) may have their access to the RAW revoked or restricted. Students will be held accountable to university policies and procedures and the student code of conduct. Failure to comply may result in further disciplinary action. 

5. All eligible members must present their RAW Member App Digital Barcode, a CSU East Bay BayCard (physical or digital), or other legal form of photo identification at time of entry. Access will not be permitted without one of these forms of identification. Members must also have a photo ID on file with their RAW Membership profile in our Member Management software system. 

6. Recreation and Wellness Center Memberships do not include parking for on-campus lots and locations. Please visit the Parking and Alternative Transportation Services website for up to date information. Permits are required Monday-Thursday from 7 am to 11 pm and on Friday from 7 am to 5 pm in all designated spaces. Members and visitors can purchase hourly and daily parking permits ($2/hour, $10/day) at the top of Harder Road next to the information kiosk. These permits are valid in any lots designated as "General Parking," including Lot D, which is adjacent to the RAW Center. Additional "General Parking" can be found in Lots C, F, and G.
