With over 50,000 square feet of building space, the University
Union caters to the campus community by providing a variety of services
and places for social, recreational, cultural, and educational pursuits.
The University Union provides the CSUEB campus with a comfortable
environment for students, faculty, alumni, staff and campus guests. Supported by student fees, University Union, Inc. is an auxiliary of the California State
University System and is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) corporation of the State of
California.
The University Union has a great deal to offer. Housed within the
Union building are the University Union and Associated Students
Administrative Offices, Sundries, information and reservation center,
ATM machine, food services, recreational facilities, and lounge
areas. Equipped with three conveniently located televisions and
one big-screen television, the Union is the ideal location for catching
up on current events, watching the big game, or enjoying music videos
in a relaxing atmosphere. Meeting and multipurpose rooms are also available for use by student
organizations, academic and administrative departments, CSU East Bay affiliated
groups, and off campus groups. The University Union provides an
ideal setting for club and organization meetings, lectures, dances,
receptions, banquets, movies, and special events. As the "living room" of the campus, the University Union
provides the CSUEB campus with a community center for student, faculty,
staff, and campus guests. We look forward to seeing you in the University
Union! A Brief History... The facility that is now called the University Union was built in 1957 to serve as a cafeteria for the growing campus community. After renovation during the early 1980's, the University Union became known as the "living room" of CSUH, providing meeting rooms, office space, a game room, the Puzzle, space for Sundries, and the TV Lounge. In 1999, the University Union began a second renovation project to modernize and increase the amount of usable space in the facility. Improvements were made to the facility's exterior and interior, as well as the addition of two new retail spaces on the second floor, now housing TCBY and University Union copy machines.
