AAFSA Student Recognition Program May 23 - Save the date

Black Graduation 2018
During the Black Student Union meeting recently, we discussed the need to get started with planning the event. 18 people showed interest in being on this year's committee. An informational meeting will be announced soon to determine officers, so the recognition paperwork can be submitted. AAFSA members will also plan a meeting with volunteers who have signed up. Lil Parker and Erika Williams are the chairs.
AAFSA Meet and Greet with Silent Auction
During the Black Health Fair on February 28, guests bid on silent auction items. All donations benefit the AAFSA Scholarship Fund.
Week of Inclusive Excellence
The Office of Diversity, Leadership and Employee Wellness featured events during the Week of Inclusive Excellence, Jan. 17 - 20, 2018. The week began with an anuual breakfast honoring Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.and celebrated the university’s culture of diversity and inclusion with a series of speakers and events.
Sankofa Scholars UMOJA Day at East Bay
The Sankofa Scholars Program hosted the first ever UMOJA Day at East Bay on October 27, 2017. There were four workshops that focused on Transfer Admissions, Financial Aid and Important Information, Transfer Support Programs and an overview of the Sankofa Scholars Program. The feedback was amazing. Congrats to Anyania Muse and team!
Kaleidoscope Mentoring Gathering
The "Just Us" Kaleidoscope Mentoring gathering was well attended. Participants enjoyed meaningful conversations with AAFSA members about how to best show up for the classroom, connecting with professors and how to combat stressful situations.
Black Student Union Participates in Hayward Build A Park
The Black Student Union (BSU), along with the Hayward Police Dept. and Hayward Fire Dept., was recently recognized for helping to build a playground at Park Elementary School in Hayward.
