Class Pass: Staying Healthy During a Pandemic– Both Mentally & Physically

The pandemic has drastically altered our lives. It has changed our daily routine and taken a toll on our mental and sometimes physical state. Learn how to stay healthy in the midst of it all with some tips from Cal State East Bay assistant professor Dr. Michael Stanton.

Your voice matters. Learn how to utilize your voice to stay actively involved in your community and push for change that you want to see come to fruition.

Crip Camp: A Disability Revolution

12:15 p.m.

Crip Camp starts in 1971 at Camp Jened, a summer camp in New York described as a "loose, free-spirited camp designed for teens with disabilities". The film focuses on those campers who turned themselves into activists for the disability rights movement and follows their fight for accessibility legislation. Join us on 10/15/2020 for a panel discussion with the team behind this powerful documentary.

Investing in our Future

Join us for a discussion on how the university is managing the Cal State East Bay donor-funded endowment and current trends in philanthropy and investing. Brian Sharpes and Chad Bolick of Morgan Stanley will discuss the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic and the current economic landscape on the current market, and into the future, and its effects on the strategic management of our investments.

Chemistry Potions & Wizardry

12 p.m.

Bring your wizard-self and your little ghouls and goblins! Join Professor LeDuc, Associate Dean of the College of Science and guests, for some chemistry wizardry and learn how to do the Exploding Polyjuice Potion experiment (Jack-o-Lantern Elephant Toothpaste) at home.



After the Fires: Saving California’s Endangered Plants

3 p.m.

235 California plants are endangered and each passing year brings new challenges. Cal State East Bay’s new Green Biome Institute (GBI) brings together faculty, newly minted student researchers, and alumni to conserve California’s endangered plants and unearth their genomic secrets before it is too late, including their possible medicinal contributions. Learn how saving California’s endangered plants is good for the environment, science and future science leaders, and all of us.

Presenters: Dr. Chris Baysdorfer, Green Biome Institute Director, other Biology faculty and alumni volunteers.

The Golden Grad Celebration is a reunion and induction ceremony honoring alumni who have marked the 50th anniversary of their graduation from the university. Due to the in-person gathering limitations, your special anniversary will be commemorated in a virtual event where you can connect with classmates, view and share memorabilia, receive your 50th-anniversary pin, and meet our university’s current President.

East Bay Porch Talks

10 a.m.– 12 p.m.

By centering Black voices, we will have the opportunity to listen, learn and ask  “How are we building an anti-racist world?” In Partnership with Oakland’s Museum of Children’s art (MOCHA) we believe that art is a vehicle in turning love into solidarity in the fight for Black lives.


 

CBE 50 Year Celebration

This year, the College of Business and Economics (CBE) at Cal State East Bay celebrates its 50th anniversary.  Since day one, CBE has been the proud home of individuals who go beyond what’s easy to achieve. Our inclusive and supportive environment thrives on collaboration among students, faculty, staff, alumni and the community.

Museum of Children’s Arts instructor Mary Lawrence will guide you step by step through the painting. No painting experience required. Even if you have never painted before you will be amazed at what you create! We will provide mocktail recipes prior to the event so you can sip and paint in the comfort of your home.
