Pioneer Merit: Digital Badges
About the Program
Cal State East Bay is enhancing how we serve students by creating Pioneer Merit, a digital badge acknowledgement program. Digital badges validate students’ skills, achievement, and competency in diverse contexts through online recognition via a digital emblem. Earned digital badges can be shared through various social media outlets, such as LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter, BaySync, and other networking sites. Showcasing Pioneer Merit illustrates students’ scholastic achievements, to potential employers and advanced degree programs, above and beyond academic major requirements and information on official transcripts.
Students that successfully complete a particular course or reach a specific milestone towards graduation will earn an official Cal State East Bay Pioneer Merit digital badge. The titles and descriptions of Badges that may be earned are outlined in the table below.
Claiming a Pioneer Merit digital badge is simple. Students that successfully complete the necessary digital badge requirements will be contacted via email from Credly’s Acclaim platform - the digital badge platform used by Cal State East Bay. This email will provide instructions to claim the digital badge. Students will be taken to the secure Acclaim by Credly website platform where they will complete a profile and password. Once this information is validated through a follow-up confirmation email, the student will be able to access the earned digital badge. Students have the opportunity to link to the badge to various social media platforms, share the badge via email, or keep it private.
