Welcome parents, families, and guests!  We know this is an exciting time for your family and friends. The ceremony will be outdoors with seating exposed to the sun. Sunblock and hats are recommended. All online orders will be available for pickup on site the day of the commencement ceremony. To retrieve your order, please stop by the booth located conveniently at the entrance to the stadium before the ceremony begins.


Undergraduate Ceremony - Hayward

Each graduate will receive an allotment of tickets for their college ceremony. Please talk to your graduate for a ticket to commencement.

Undergraduate Ceremony - Concord

The commencement ceremony at Concord, does not require tickets or special parking permits.



California State University, East Bay’s annual commencement for the credential, bachelor, master and doctoral degree candidates will be held at both the Hayward and Concord Campuses.

GradImages is the official commencement photographer for our school. Your proofs will be ready to view online as soon as 48 hours after the ceremony. In order to notify you when your images are available, GradImages sends emails and mails paper proofs, along with optional text message notifications. Your information is never shared and privacy is guaranteed.

Pre-registering is simply a way to make sure your contact information is up-to-date with GradImages, so they can provide your complimentary proofs as quickly as possible. Although there's never any obligation to order, you'll save 20% off orders of $50 or more for your participation. Family members will not be allowed on or in front of the stage to take photographs or video, and may only take photographs or video in the designated photo/video areas and from audience seats. For public safety reasons, guests will not be allowed to take pictures or videos from the main aisle ways and will be asked by University Police to clear the area. We ask that family members be courteous of others when taking photos/videos.

In order for a letter to be generated verifying that your participation in the commencement ceremony please submit the Request for Verification Form:  In addition to this form, we will need a letter/document/form from the third party stating the information that they would like verified. Please write the name of the form from the third party where it indicates "title of attached form". 

Please submit the Request for Verification Form and the form from the third party requesting the verification (in one of the ways listed below) to the Office of the Registrar:

  1. Fax to Office of the Registrar at (510) 885-3816 
  2. Mail to CSU East Bay, Office of the Registrar, 25800 Carlos Bee Blvd, Hayward CA 94542
  3. Deliver to the Enrollment Information Center in the Student Administration Building on the Hayward Campus or the Student Information Lobby at the Concord Campus.
  4. Scan and attach the forms and email to from your horizon email account.

Please allow 7-10 days for processing.


Effective Sept. 1, 2017, in order to promote the health of faculty, staff and students, and to foster a campus atmosphere that is safe and supportive of students’ learning endeavors, the university is banning the use of all tobacco and nicotine-based products, including cigarettes, chewing tobacco, electronic devices and more. Possession and consumption of alcoholic beverages is prohibited before, during and after commencement. Drinking and misconduct by even a few would be disturbing to the graduates, faculty, and guests who expect and deserve a safe, orderly, and dignified ceremony. Any graduate who appears to be intoxicated will not be permitted to participate in the ceremony.  Guests who appear to be intoxicated will not be allowed entrance into the stadium or live-stream viewing sites.  Further, any guests appearing to be intoxicated or causing disruption will be removed from the campus.

Cell Phones

Please silence personal electronic devices during the ceremony.


Only service animals are permitted at commencement or on the university grounds on ceremony days. Service animals need to be clearly identified. No other animals are permitted.

First Aid

An emergency first aid station will be set up on the stadium field and at the top of the stadium. Look for signage on commencement day.

Local Weather 

Please check the local weather forecast to be best prepared. The weather can be very warm, and there is no shade available at the commencement site.  Please feel free to wear hats, visors and sunglasses, and apply sunblock.  It is extremely important to bring provisions for children, persons with special needs, and the elderly, as there will be limited food and beverage sales.

In Case of Inclement Weather or Excessive Heat 

The ceremony will go forward even in the event of rain or excessive heat. Please note the ceremony may be abbreviated to ensure the safety of all graduates, guests, faculty and staff.  Speeches could be omitted from the program and names may not be able to be read
