A pool of applicants are being sought by several departments for possible temporary teaching positions in the College of Science, Cal State East Bay, for one or two semesters of the 2019-20 academic year.  Lecturers currently in the 2018-19 temporary pool must submit a written intent to remain in the 2019-20 temporary pool along with an updated CV.  Applications will be kept on file from Fall Semester 2019 through Spring Semester 2020, or until hiring for the Spring Semester is complete.

Openings will be filled from the pool of applicants before the start of each term.  Please note that teaching assignments at California State University, East Bay include courses at the Hayward, Concord and Online campuses.  In addition, employment is contingent on course enrollment and budgetary authorization.  For additional information, please direct your inquiries to the individual departments noted below.

POSITION NUMBER: 19-20 BIOL PT-1

Part-time lecturer positions teaching major and non-major courses in Biology including Introductory Biology, Genetics, Developmental Genetics, Hematology, Microbiology and Human Physiology and Anatomy. A Ph.D. degree in Biological Sciences or related field is required for these positions. However, for certain non-major courses only, the Ph.D. requirement may be waived.

POSITION NUMBER: 19-20 CHEM PT-1

Part-time positions teaching introductory and advanced Chemistry and Biochemistry classes; Ph.D. required.  Lecturer positions in laboratory classes have a minimum requirement of M.S. in Chemistry or Biochemistry.  A Ph.D. degree in Chemistry or related field is preferred for the laboratory classes.

Part-time positions teaching Introductory Environmental Science and Geology, Earth Systems Science, Introductory Oceanography, Meteorology, Environmental Biology, and evening graduate classes in applied fields, e.g., GIS, Engineering Geology.  Minimum requirement of M.S. in Geology, Environmental Science or its equivalent, or enrollment in a Ph.D. program in Geology, Environmental Science or its equivalent.

POSITION NUMBER: 19-20 ENGR PT-1

Construction Management

Part-time position teaching in Construction Management Program at both Bachelor’s and Master’s level. M.S. degree in Civil Engineering/Construction with relevant work experience is required.  Ph.D. degree in Civil Engineering/Construction is preferred.

POSITION NUMBER: 19-20 HS PT-1

Part-time positions teaching Health Science courses to majors and non-majors. Recruiting in all areas but particular need in: vector control, toxicology, health law, health humanities/medical humanities, environmental health, and bioethics. Candidates with Doctoral Degree in related field preferred. Will consider Master’s Degree with certification and/or work experience.

Part-time lecturer positions teaching lower-division computer programming and advanced topics in Computer Science.  For consideration, applicants must possess a graduate degree in Computer Science and have teaching experience at the post-secondary level.

POSITION NUMBER: 19-20 NURS PT-1

Part-time positions teaching (clinical or lecture) undergraduate Medical-Surgical Nursing, Pediatric, Perinatal, Gerontologic, Mental Health, Community Health Nursing, Research, Leadership, Legal Responsibilities of Health Care Providers, or Nutrition/Medical Nutrition Therapy, RN Advanced Placement (lecture, online, seminar) and Health Assessment.  Minimum qualifications:  M.S. in Nursing from an accredited College or University which includes course work in nursing, education or administration; current, unrestricted California RN license, one year of clinical experience providing direct patient care within the last five years, eligibility for BRN approval to teach in a nursing program.  Teaching experience at University level preferred for all positions.

Part-time positions teaching lower division statistics courses oriented toward various disciplines in business, natural and social sciences, humanities, and engineering.  Minimum requirement of M.S. in Statistics or Biostatistics (Ph.D. in Statistics or Biostatistics preferred) or M.S. degree in a related field of application with teaching experience.
