Scholarships and Awards for Outstanding Achievement
Through the exceptional generosity of private donors, known as the Friends of History, the Department of History at Cal State East Bay awards approximately $20,000 in scholarships and prizes every year to deserving History majors. We very much encourage History majors to apply. While GPA factors into the award process, the quality of the application, faculty references, and demonstrated work ethic and good citizenship are also important criteria. The Scholarship Committee chair in 2021-2022 is Professor Jason Daniels, and questions may be directed to email@example.com.
Applications for departmental scholarships are made available early each Spring semester, and require a personal statement and recommendations from faculty members who are familiar with your work. Detailed application information is provided via our Blackboard listserve for History majors.
Winners will be notified by the last week of classes in Spring semester, and announced at the annual end-of-the-year Wanda Washington Student History Conference.
