Nutrition Workshops

The RAW holds various nutrition workshops to aid students in making healthier food choices such as planning healthy meals, rethinking your drink, and shopping on a budget. Visit our Activities and Events page to see our nutrition workshops, tabling events, and other activities offered here. 

Teaching Kitchen

Teaching Kitchen is a program that allows students to gain more knowledge about healthy recipes while also being able to interact with others. Students will be able to see different demonstrations each workshop by Chef Joy on how to prepare these healthy recipes. CalFresh is a nutrition assistance program that helps low-income individuals and families buy the food they need. CalFresh dollars help stretch a tight food budget and help many people afford to incorporate healthy foods like fruits and vegetables into their diets. One way to eat healthier options is to implement fruits and vegetables into your diet. Having half of your plate be fruits and vegetables is a great way to get the nutrients you need and optimize your health.

Learning how to read nutritional labels when buying groceries can help you eat healthier by allowing you to pick and choose what foods and ingredients have low sodium, added sugars, and saturated fats.

Stay Hydrated

As much as you might enjoy drinking sugary drinks, there are healthier alternatives to quench your thirst and optimize your health. Switching to water, green tea, or homemade smoothies are great options instead of having sugary drinks.
