Analytics for Managers Concentration

In today’s complex and global business environment, information technology is a rapidly growing part of business. It plays an important role in improving the overall value of an organization. Organizations need managers who possess both business acumen and technological insight to become more efficient and remain competitive. Those who understand in both management and technology will truly empower themselves to succeed. Effective leaders are needed to manage processes, systems, and people, as well as to provide a strategic perspective about current and future applications of IT that will contribute to the success of their organizations

ABOUT ANALYTICS FOR MANAGERS CONCENTRATION

The MBA Analytics for Managers concentration is designed for analytical business professionals who want to combine their managerial skills and training to advance into an information management role. It blends the teaching of core management disciplines and the science of information technology, tools, and skills. Students will expand their understanding of the business value and strategic importance of information. The program prepares students to assume managerial positions in business analytics. Students can broaden their experience and gain the skills they need to make impactful contributions to your organization. Students will develop an understanding of the need for lifelong learning, enabling them to use analytical tools and concepts benefiting their organization.

 

CURRICULUM

MBA with Analytics for Managers Degree Requirement (42 Semester units)

To complete the MBA with Analytics for Managers, a student must complete the following:

 

Core Courses (27 units)

The following 27 core units are required for all MBA students:

  • MKTG 601 - Managerial Communications (1.5 units)
  • MGMT 601 - Leading People in Organizations (1.5 units)
  • MGMT 602 - Business Analytics for Managers (3 units)
  • MGMT 603 - Managing Complex Issues in Global Context (3 units)
  • ACCT 604 -  Financial Accounting (3 units)
  • FIN     605 - Corporate Financial Management (3 units)
  • ECON 606 - Managerial Economics (3 units)
  • MKTG 607 - Marketing Management (3 units)
  • MGMT 608 - Operations and Supply Chain Management (3 units)
  • MGMT 609 - Negotiation and Conflict Resolution (3 units)

Analytics for Managers Concentration (12 units)

Prerequisite Requirement - Must be completed before taking any BAN required or elective course

  • MGMT 602 - Business Analytics for Managers

Select at least two (2) courses, for 6 units, from the following:

  • BAN 610 - Database Management and Applications
  • BAN 612 - Data Analytics
  • BAN 620 - Data Mining
  • BAN 622 - Data Warehousing and Business Intelligence
  • BAN 630 - Optimization Methods for Analytics

Plus, select at least two (2) courses, for 6 units, from the following:

  • BAN 660 - Advanced Topics in Big Data
  • BAN 670 - Advanced Topics in Analytics
  • MGMT 616 - People Analytics
  • MGMT 654 - Enterprise Planning and Control
  • MGMT 658 - Project Management
  • MGMT 662 - Operations Analytics
  • MKTG 612 - Marketing Analytics

Capstone Requirement (3 units)

  • BUS 693 - Strategic Management Capstone (Project)
