The political science curriculum helps students to acquire an organized body of knowledge about government and politics and to think, research, write and speak about political systems, public policies, public administration, and law.
The curriculum delves deeply into both the American political system and political systems around the world. Its approach is international and intercultural. It also offers knowledge and skills needed for active citizenship.
The political science degree prepares graduates to enter careers in government, public service, public administration, public policy analysis, legislative advocacy, business, international relations, and teaching. Cal State East Bay political science graduates go to law school or pursue graduate degrees in political science, international relations, public administration, urban planning, public health, public policy analysis, and so on.
