Professional Development

Get Involved!

The Writing Across the Curriculum program works to build a community of instructors across campus who are interested in teaching writing and supporting student learning.

Faculty from all disciplines are welcome to participate, whether they teach writing-intensive courses or simply include writing assignments in their classes.

WAC Chats

WAC Chats are informal faculty conversations focused on teaching writing across disciplines.
These sessions provide a space for instructors to:
  • Share strategies for supporting student writing
  • Discuss challenges in teaching writing
  • Explore new pedagogical approaches
  • Learn from colleagues across campus
Topics may include:
  • Designing effective writing assignments
  • Teaching argumentation and critical thinking
  • Integrating AI and digital tools into writing instruction
  • Inclusive and anti-racist writing pedagogy
  • Responding to and assessing student writing

WAC Chats are intentionally collaborative and low-stakes. Participants are encouraged to bring questions, examples from their courses, or ideas they would like to discuss.
