"Diversity is essential to our University’s academic excellence, institutional distinction and regional influence. As an educational community, we are dedicated to eliminating barriers to success that arise from race, ethnicity, socioeconomic status, culture, religion, linguistic diversity, ability, gender identity, sexual orientation, age, geographical region, personality, learning styles, life experiences or other human characteristics."
– CSUEB President Leroy M. Morishita
This office is responsible for ensuring that the commitment to diversity and inclusion is understood across the University and the communities that we serve. The University Diversity Officer actively advocates for respect and equity in all practices relating to Cal State East Bay; serves as the President’s liaison to University constituents and structures; advises the President and senior University Administrative Officers on issues relating to diversity and equity; and develops strategies to strengthen the diverse representation on-campus as part of the University's academic excellence.
The Office of Diversity, Leadership and Employee Wellness seeks to foster an environment where tolerance, justice, equity, and nondiscrimination prevail for all of our students, faculty, and staff.
