RIASEC – Explore your interests
Occupational Personality Type
RIASEC is a representation of personality types described in a theory of occupations formulated by psychologist John L. Holland. Career counselors and career seekers use these types to focus career exploration and research.
What is your occupational personality type? Use the following links to self assess and begin to explore and identify your interests. If you're interested in further information or a formal assessment, please stop by AACE and speak with a career counselor.
Read these RIASEC descriptions and select the top two or three that best describe you.
Now read the more detailed descriptions of each code, including sample occupations and majors for your choices.
The O*NET program is the nation's primary source of occupational information. Central to the project is the O*NET database, containing information on hundreds of standardized and occupation-specific descriptors. You can use your Holland Code (RIASEC) to search for career information. Start your search now and check out the O*NET link.
If you are clear on your choices great! If you still have questions we suggest that you see a career counselor and take the Strong Interest Inventory assessment.
