Admission Requirements

The M.S. Business Analytics is open to students who hold a baccalaureate degree with strong quantitative and computer programming background from an accredited college or university.

Each applicant is evaluated on the basis of:

  • Past academic performance as reflected in undergraduate grade point average and subsequent coursework, i.e., an undergraduate degree with at least 2.5 Grade Point Average (or equivalent)
  • For International students: demonstrated proof of English proficiency  (e.g. TOEFL score of 550 (paper-based), 213 (computer-based) or 79 (internet-based) or IELTS of 6.5 or above.)
  • Demonstrated proficiency requirements in mathematics, statistics and object-oriented programming with a grade of "C" or better and within 5 years of starting the program. To satisfy the mathematics proficiency, you must have completed equivalent coursework in intermediate algebra. If you have not completed such coursework, you can take MATH 1130 or an equivalent course. The statistics requirement may be met by a course in statistics that is equivalent to STAT 2010 or STAT 1000. The object-oriented programming requirement may be met by a course in computer science that is equivalent to CS 1160.

Above are the minimum requirements. Each candidate's qualifications will be compared to that of other applicants. Preferred credentials include:

  • GRE/GMAT is optional, but STRONGLY RECOMMENDED.
  • Applicants with 3+ years of working experience relevant to analytics are strongly recommended to attach resume to their applications.
