Freshmen Day of Service

The Freshmen Day of Service (FDoS) is an exciting requirement for every first year freshmen at CSUEB, through their General Studies (GS) course during spring quarter.  Our Center coordinates multiple one-day service projects with local non-profit agencies that take place during first eight weeks (mostly Saturdays) of our spring quarter.

Project Registration Link

PROJECT REGISTRATION IS NOW CLOSED. STUDENTS WHO HAVE NOT YET SIGNED UP FOR A PROJECT SHOULD DISCUSS AN ALTERNATIVE ASSIGNMENT WITH THEIR GS INSTRUCTORS. PLEASE SEE THE POLICY FOR PROJECT CHANGE REQUESTS HERE.

OUTDOOR PROJECTS & RAIN PROTOCOL - Students please be advised that we will communicate any project changes via horizon email. Please review the "Bad Weather Conditions Cancellation Protocol" in the project description in your project. Not all projects are cancelled due to rain. Be aware that if you sign up for an outdoor project, it may not be cancelled even if it rains. Unless you receive communication from the Center for Community Engagement prior to your project, you are required to show up even if it rains. Be sure to dress appropriately for the weather. If the project is cancelled, you will be sent information on re-scheduling your project.

When rain is predicted for the upcoming weekend, you must check your horizon email regularly. When projects are cancelled prior to the start time, then you will be required to sign up for and participate in another FDoS project. Again, please check your horizon email for instructions. If it is raining, and you do not show up but we have not cancelled your project, you will not be accomodated with an opportunity to sign up again and will not receive credit for a service project.
