Film: Dive! Living Off America’s Waste
New University Union Multipurpose Room

Inspired by a curiosity about our country's careless habit of sending food straight to landfills, the multi award-winning documentary DIVE! follows filmmaker Jeremy Seifert and friends as they dumpster dive in the back alleys and gated garbage receptacles of Los Angeles' supermarkets. In the process, they salvage thousands of dollars worth of good, edible food - resulting in an inspiring documentary that is equal parts entertainment, guerilla journalism and call to action.

2pm - 3pm
Keynote: Katie Cantrell Factory Farming Awareness Coalition
New University Union Multipurpose Room

Katie Cantrell founded the Factory Farming Awareness Coalition in 2010, shortly after graduating from UC Berkeley, to educate people about the ecological and social justice hazards of industrial animal agriculture. Since founding FFAC, she has given over 200 presentations on factory farming to venues such as Yale, Stanford, and the Natural Resources Defense Council. Her presentation has been used as a resource by food justice activists across North America.

Our food choices are one of the most powerful ways we can help solve everything from climate change, to deforestation, to drought. Join this discussion to learn about the ecological impacts of food production, discover the global movement for change, and discuss powerful individual and institutional solutions.

All attendees will receive free food samples!

3pm - 4pm
CSUEB & City of Hayward Sustainability Showcase
New University Union Multipurpose Room

Check out the CSUEB and City of Hayward Sustainability Showcase to learn the status of sustainability practices both on-campus and in the community related to waste, transportation, behavior change and education, and assessment. Participants will learn first-hand about current efforts and exciting initiatives that are planned for the near future as well as have an opportunity to provide feedback. Don’t miss this opportunity to have your voice heard and engage in shaping sustainability planning in the East Bay.
