Comments and Feedback

The committee seeks community feedback on the proposed principles for amending the constitution and bylaws. Based on community feedback, these principles may be adopted, modified, or abandoned. Once the feedback process is complete, the Committee will respond to all feedback from the survey on this website, from town halls, and from individual faculty survey responses.

Responses to Comments and Feedback

This Google Sheet has all of the responses that the ExCom Committee for Constitution and ByLaws Review has made to the feedback received via its Qualtrics survey, website portal, town-halls and email submissions to the Senate Office. The feedback was parsed out as much as possible into distinct comments that could more easily and clearly be addressed by the Committee. The responses that were received directly to Documents A-D were subdivided into the matrices presented in the sheets with tabs labeled Responses A-D and Responses Other. Responses Other are comments that the committee felt were not easily attributable to Documents A-D that came through emails to the Senate Office. The responses to Documents A-D via the Qualtrics surveys and website portal are included in the matrix for each even if they were actually off-topic. No changes were made to the feedback except to separate them, where possible, into their distinct points. The original feedback and its provenance are included in the first tab labeled Feedback. The matrices have three columns – A is a short statement of what the comment was mostly about, B is the comment received (parsed as appropriate) and C is the Committee response. The comments were sorted by column A to group them somewhat but they were not prioritized or arranged in a particular group order. The Committee understands that this is not perfect and it represents a lot for people to go through, but it wanted to get the feedback out without further delay. This effort took a lot of time and revision to make sure it fully reviewed every bit of feedback and that it captured the consensus of the Committee members for each comment made. The Committee will now attempt to use the feedback it received and its reflection on that feedback to suggest how the Constitution & ByLaws might be amended consistent with its reflection and in a manner that could be subject to a vote by the University Regular Faculty. The proposed amendments and how they could best be voted on in a ballot process will be submitted first to ExCom for its consideration.
