Lisa Jacobs brings to social work education a deep passion and unwavering commitment to advancing the belief that resilience and recovery from adverse childhood experiences are possible through education, advocacy, and trauma-informed practice.
After 23 years in the finance and information technology industries, Lisa retired in 2009 and began a new journey rooted in service and social impact earning a Bachelor of Social Work (2012) and her Master of Science in Social Work (2013), specializing in gerontology from the University of Louisville Kent School of Social Work. Lisa held licensures in Kentucky and Indiana while working in the community, schools, providing mental health, substance use recovery, child welfare interventions, crisis intervention, case management. and therapeutic visitation supervision for families involved in child welfare. In 2017, Lisa founded Community Care Resource Services, and in 2018, she began contracting with the Indiana Department of Child Services, where she prioritized evidence-based programming and trauma-informed training for parents, caregivers, foster families, children, and community professionals. Lisa has also led partnerships with three universities to develop practicum opportunities for social work students, while also creating responsive services for schools and individuals facing housing instability and mental health crises. In response to the ongoing opioid epidemic, she became certified in Medication Assisted Treatment in 2024, offering harm-reduction-based counseling for individuals in recovery.
Lisa’s goal as a practicum liaison and lecturer is to equip tomorrow’s social workers with the tools and advocacy skills to drive meaningful community change
