CSU Academic Preparation

High school students interested in attending a CSU campus following graduation will learn about preparing academically for college-level coursework. This presentation will briefly explore the CSU’s multiple measures for determining students’ readiness for first-year English and math, supplementary instruction, the Early Start Program, and resources available on the CSU Student Success website.

Career Ready in 1-2 Years: Work-Based Learning at Las Positas Community College 

Are you interested in earning a college credential in 1-2 years that’s hands-on and prepares you to go right into the workplace? If so, you may be interested in a Career Technical Education (CTE) program at Las Positas community college. Our CTE programs/industries include Advanced Manufacturing and Transportation, Arts and Humanities, Business Studies, Early Care and Education, Fitness, Public Safety, and STEM. Our CTE labs and software, curricula, and internship opportunities follow industry standards and mirror the workplace – our dedicated industry partners make sure of it! We offer 1-year certificates and 2-year associates degrees in CTE. Join us and learn more about CTE and financial aid, hear from some CTE students and alumni, and ask us questions if you like!

Student Equity and Success (SEAS) Programs 

Learn about the support programs of Student Equity and Success: EOP, EXCEL, GANAS, Sankofa, Pacific Islander and Asian program, and the Renaissance Scholars Program. These support programs at Cal State East Bay serve specific student populations including Black, Latino/a, Pacific Islander, and Asian communities.  In addition, SEAS support first-generation students, students who come from low-income families, and/ or students who are former foster youth.

The C. E. Smith Museum of Anthropology was founded in 1975 and opened its exhibition gallery in 1979. Established as a teaching museum for the instruction of museum studies in an anthropological context, the museum provides hands-on opportunities for students to learn museology and to work with archaeology and ethnology materials.

The museum strives to demonstrate human diversity and the range of human achievement throughout the world with both traditional cultural forms and their contemporary expressions and influences. Recognizing the value of material culture, exhibits use art and artifacts to illustrate all aspects of human culture from around the world, features of culture change, and technological as well as biological evolution.

The museum houses significant collections of archaeological and ethnographic items from Africa, Asia, and North America, in addition to small collections from Central and South America.
