What is AlcoholEdu?

AlcoholEdu is a web-based alcohol education program that is recognized nationally for its effectiveness. This program combines the latest prevention techniques and research to educate students about the impact of alcohol. As you well know, alcohol is a significant issue in the lives of students. Whether you abstain from alcohol or not, it is an influence in our lives and in the lives of our family and friends. Content learned through AlcoholEdu can help you make informed decisions about alcohol and better handle drinking behavior that may occur around you. Your physical and emotional health, now and throughout your life, will serve as an important foundation for all that you will accomplish.

Do I Need To Complete AlcoholEdu?

AlcoholEdu is required for all incoming students at CSUEB. Per CSU Chancellor's office, State of California, and federal mandates, incoming students are required to receive alcohol education as part of their new student orientations. Completion of the AlcoholEdu program helps to fulfill this requirement.

How do I Complete AlcoholEdu?

Instructions on how to access AlcoholEdu will be sent out through your Horizon account on Monday, August 14, 2017. You will go to the website link provided and login using your CSUEB Net ID and corresponding password to access the program.

I completed Part 1. How do I gain access to Part 2?

You will have access to part 2 approximately 45 days after completion of part 1. You will receive an email to your horizon account with an access link to part 2. You will need to complete part 2 by November 13, 2017. Once you have completed Part 2, you have met the campus requirement.

How long will AlcoholEdu take to complete?

Part 1 of AlcoholEdu takes approximately 90 minutes to complete. You must complete Part 1 by September 4, 2017. Forty five (45) days after completing Part 1 of AlcoholEdu, you will need to log back in to complete Part 2. The deadline for Part 2 is November 13, 2017. Part 2 will take approximately 15 minutes to complete. All parts of AlcoholEdu are required.

Do I have to complete the course in one sitting?

No. You can complete the course in one sitting, or you can take breaks. If you take a break, we recommend that you wait until you have completed one of the Modules. Note: Before you log out of the course, be sure to click the "Next" button at the end of a section. If you fail to do this, the system will not record your progress and you will have to repeat that section when you log back in the next time.

What happens if I do not pass the exam?

You will need to retake the exam until you receive a passing grade of 75%. Part 1 is only completed after you have received a passing grade.

Will the grade I get on this test be reflected in my transcript?

No. The grade you get in the course will not appear on your transcript and it will not affect your GPA.

Will CSUEB faculty or staff have access to my responses?

No. All survey responses are strictly confidential; CSUEB will only receive information about the student body as a whole and will NEVER see any individual student's answers.

Is there a fee?

There are no fees associated with your use of AlcoholEdu.

I already took an alcohol prevention and sexual assault program. Do I need to do this again?

Yes, AlcoholEdu has been updated for academic year 2017-2018. The sexual assault online program is a different requirement - All Cal State University East Bay students are required to take this sexual misconduct awareness and prevention training.

What if I am having trouble logging onto the program?
