¡Hola! I am Gabriela Díaz-Dávalos (she/her), and I am an Assistant Professor at the Modern Languages & Literatures Department. I am a First-Gen immigrant and college graduate, and I am a United States Army veteran.  I am originally from Mexico, and I arrived at the East Coast in 2004. During my time in the Greater Philadelphia region, I worked with local community projects that explore and promote the diverse experiences of Latinx and Lusophone communities.

My academic interests are geared towards interdisciplinary approaches to language and meaning-making materials, primarily in their application for pedagogical purposes to foster global citizenship and diversity awareness. In my free time, I practice and teach Capoeira, and I have a deep passion for languages. I am looking forward to working with my new community to empower marginalized populations and promote wellness among students, faculty, and staff, through engaging and meaningful activities.

I’m Amy Díaz-Infante Siqueiros (she/her) and am a new Assistant Professor of Art at CSU East Bay. Prior to this I had also taught at City College of San Francisco and CSU Monterey Bay. At CCSF I also worked on outreach and our partnership with SFMOMA, and was a member and officer of our Academic Senate focusing on moving forward equity issues.

I am from Salinas, California; the oldest of 5; and a first-generation college graduate, receiving my BFA and MFA in Art with a concentration in Printmaking. Much of my experience has been outside of academia, working with arts-nonprofits and other community based organizations. My work has focused primarily on working with youth of color and I have enjoyed collaborating with various community groups to create greater access and representation in the arts.

In addition to my own arts practice, I started a children’s clothing company called Casa Comadre (with my comadre, of course) that celebrates our respective Mexican and Italian heritages. I also really enjoy time in the kitchen, the garden, dancing samba, and I hope to get back to Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (I am slowly coercing my husband into letting me practice on him). You can find me and my work at: amydiaz-infante.com / @amydiazinfante and casacomadre.com / @casacomadredesigns

I’m looking forward to working with all of you to support and diversify our faculty!

Hi ya’ll! I’m Natalie Ingraham (she/her). I identify as a White, cisgender queer woman. I’m an Assistant Professor of Sociology with a focus on sociology of health, LGBTQ health, and body size/fat studies. I became a first time parent in 2022 and am excited to build more community with other faculty caregivers in the future as well. In my limited spare time, I’m a member of Big Moves Bay Area’s fat dance troupe (emFATic DANCE) and pre-kiddo sung in my church choir at First Unitarian in Oakland.

I’m excited to work with the other diversity fellows and contributors on projects that help advance racial equity and other intersectional equity concerns at CSUEB, especially around recruiting, retaining and building community as faculty and staff with our students.

Hi, I'm Tommy Jenkinson (he/him). I am a mixed race, cis-gender man of Chinese and European ancestry. I'm also a field biologist, a single parent, and a native Mandarin speaker. As a child of a United States military service member growing up mostly in East Asia, I was raised in a system rooted in American colonial expansion over the Asian continent. This experience shaped the anti-imperialist lens through which I now view my role as a global citizen. I've spent most of my life navigating cultural, social, and linguistic bridges between the United States and Asia. Bouncing back and forth between hemispheres in childhood, I had never truly felt a sense of place until I landed in the beautifully multicultural San Francisco Bay Area.

As an Assistant Professor of Biological Sciences, I am passionate about conserving global biodiversity, decolonizing the study of ecology, and championing the success of individuals historically excluded from environmental and conservation research. My work is ultimately aimed at preserving the species and ecosystems that make up the rich tapestry of life on Earth. I'm looking forward to working with fellow Faculty Diversity Contributors this semester to help build community and cultivate connections among the diverse junior faculty at Cal State East Bay.

Hi! I’m Ny Vail (they/them). I am an Assistant Professor at the Psychology Department. I am a queer gender-nonbinary person and an immigrant. In my work I examine the psychological factors sustaining patterns of social inequality and injustice, as well as the psychological mechanisms that can disrupt them. I aim to develop psychologically feasible interventions that would weaken and ultimately displace patterns of structural and institutional injustice with fair and inclusive social practices.

I am passionate about promoting diversity and inclusion in academia. As a postdoc, I founded OPEN, a program that promoted equity, diversity and inclusion, focusing on issues that women, ethnic and racial minorities, LGBTQIA people and other minority groups face in academia. Outside of academia, I organized two networks of support for LGBTQIA refugees and asylum-seekers. I am excited to be a part of this group, and looking forward to getting some meaningful diversity work done!
