Assistant Professor William Lawson’s book “No Small Thing” was recently published. The book focuses on the historic 1963 Mississippi Freedom vote, an integrated citizens' campaign for civil rights. It is available through the University Press of Mississippi.

The annual Mt. Diablo beacon lighting ceremony held on Dec. 7 at Cal State East Bay’s Concord campus was featured on KTVU and NBC Bay Area.

Assistant Professor Nazzy Pakpour and her team of researchers recently won a global health hackathon at the University of California, San Francisco. Pakpour pitched an idea to develop necklaces containing activated charcoal in order to help people avoid contracting malaria. 

Associate Professor Maria Ortuoste was quoted recently in multiple news sources, including Philstar.com, VN Express and VN Express International, discussing China’s Code of Conduct and the Philippines’ sea claim.
