Cal State East Bay's Associated Students Inc. recently received a regional award from the National Association for Campus Activities for its "Fraps and Flows" event. Fraps and Flows is a free poetry slam held twice a year that allows university guest artists to express their experiences, struggles and triumphs.

In addition, ASI Associate Director Kristopher Chad Disharoon received the 2018 Staff-Driven Program of the Year Award from the Association for College Unions International at the Region I ACUI Conference at San Diego State University. The award recognized Disharoon’s creation of the Pioneer Activities Council.

According to ASI, the PAC was created in the fall of 2017 and brought together a group of students to breathe new life into the university unions. During the first year it implemented over 65 events and served more than a third of the Cal State East Bay population. It's mission is to entertain, educate and engage the campus community in a multitude of events throughout the year.
