CSUEB Queerfest kicks off Feb 14

Cal State East Bay will host Queerfest during the week of Feb 14. This week long series of events will celebrate campus diversity and creates awareness of LGBTQ issues.

QueerFest kicks off with Safe Zone Ally Training at 12pm on Feb 14 in MPR B of the new Univeristy Union with Elysse Grossi presenting a training session on how to make the CSUEB campus a safer, more inclusive place for everyone. Event is open to students, staff and faculty.

Two lecturers are planned for Feb 15. At 10am in MPR B of the new University Union, Assistant Professor of Theatre and Dance Eric Kupers will moderate a discussion on queer issues and religion with Rev. Kathryn Schreiber, minister at the United Church of Hayward, and Buddhist Theatre artist Martha Boesing.

At 12pm in MPR B, guest speaker Danielle Foxxx, a well known transsexual film actress in the pornographic industry and trans rights advocate, will talk about her experiences and advocacy for the LGBTQ community. This event is sponsored by the College of Science and ASI Presents.

Dance classes and workshops, mixers, a KISS carnival, meditation sessions and many other fun activities are scheduled for Feb 16 through Feb 18. Check out the Queerfest Facebook page for more details.
