Alumna writes of elder abuse, suggests solution

Rita Stuckey, MPA health care administration '99, a nurse consultant at various hospitals, has published the book “Institutional Elder Abuse: The Solution: Care Advocate Program.”

The book describes the problem of elder abuse in nursing homes and provides a solution to reduce the incidence of elder abuse with training, education and community advocacy.

Stuckey is the first African-American nurse to earn a doctorate in educational leadership from Mills College, where she serves on the Alumni Association’s Board of Governors. She also holds a master’s degree in education from Mills and is a certified public health nurse and a mental health specialist.
