The Faculty Learning Community for Diversity, Multicultural Learning, and Social Justice will wrap up their month long Diversity Film Festival with Ma vie en rose (1997) on Thurs, May 26.

Directed by Alain Berliner, the film tells the story of Ludovic (Georges du Fresne), a child who was born male but consistently insists that she is supposed to be a girl. When his family discovers the little girl blossoming in him they are forced to contend with their own discomfort and the lack of understanding from their new neighbors. Their anger and impatience cave and Ludovic is sent to see a psychiatrist in the hopes of fixing whatever is wrong with him. The film shows the struggle over the gender identity she and her family experience. The film won the Golden Globe Award for Best Foreign Language Film. It also won the Crystal Globe award at the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival.

Admission is free and open to all. Ma vie en rose will be shown from 6pm to 8pm in Music Building MB-2099. For information, please contact Monique Manopoulos, assistant professor and chair of Modern Languages and Literatures at: monique.manopoulos@csueastbay.edu
