Don’t be surprised to hear promos of Cal State East Bay Professor Michael Lee’s upcoming interview on sustainability on news shows tonight and Saturday.

Professor Lee will be the leadoff speaker Sunday morning, Aug. 14, on the ABC 7 (KGO-TV) “Beyond the Headlines” program with Cheryl Jennings hosting at 10 a.m.

The professor of geography and environmental studies is CSUEB’s foremost authority on sustainability, and teaches several classes on the subject, such as GEOG 4330 – “Sustainable Development.” He also consults on sustainable fisheries and aquaculture for a SF based corporation.

In explaining sustainability, Lee will note that Americans make up 5 percent of the world, but use about 25 percent of its energy and resources. He will tell viewers of how his students turn baby-steps into real-life savings to their ecological footprint, and value of an even moderate drop in consumption.

Following Lee, Jennings will interview other experts on water conversation, urban gardening, and retrofitting of homes for energy efficiency.
