CSUEB professor attends husband's Nobel Prize ceremony in Stockholm

California State University, East Bay Professor Laura Nelson was with her husband, University of California, Berkeley and Berkeley Lab physicist Saul Perlmutter, when he was feted in Stockholm, Sweden, last week before receiving his Nobel Prize medal on Saturday, Dec. 10, during a ceremony at the Stockholm Concert Hall.

Along with their daughter, Noa, Perlmutter and Nelson joined other newly named Nobelists, their families, friends and colleagues in Stockholm for the start of festivities on Tuesday, Dec. 6. Perlmutter delivered the traditional Nobel Lecture in the Aula Magna at Stockholm University on Wednesday, Dec. 7.

The awards ceremony on Saturday was followed by a gala banquet at the Stockholm City Hall, where Nelson was escorted  by Sweden's King Carl XVI Gustaf. View photo. 

The official Nobel Week program concluded on Monday, Dec. 12, with individual visits by the laureates to the Nobel Foundation.
