Everyone is invited to enjoy art by Cal State East Bay students at the Annual Student Exhibition in the University Art Gallery, first floor of the Art and Education Building, 25800 Carlos Bee Blvd., Hayward, 94542.

This year’s program marks the 50th anniversary of both the Art Gallery and the Art Department. The opening reception and student award ceremony will be from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, May 8. The exhibition will be open through June 9. Gallery hours are 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Mondays-Wednesdays and Saturdays, and 2-7 p.m. Thursdays. Admission is free.

The annual juried student exhibition is open to all students who take classes in the Art Department, regardless of major. Show pieces consist of a few collaborative works, paintings, drawing, ceramic and mixed media sculpture, photography, a film, an art book, and a jewelry pendant made through a lost wax casting process. They were selected by judges Susan Casentini and Kyle Milligan, founding directors of Studio Quercus, a non-profit gallery space in Oakland.

The May 8 opening will include the presentation of several annual awards and scholarships.
