Office of Research and Sponsored Programs The Office of Research and Sponsored Programs facilitates the submission of grant and contract proposals to external sponsors. The office reviews all proposals before they are sent to sponsors, then presents them to the Provost and Vice President, Academic Affairs for official University approval. In reviewing proposals, we balance three different interests: the needs of the faculty member(s) who will lead the project, compliance with the University's policies and procedures, and adherence to the sponsoring agency’s guidelines and regulations. In addition to reviewing proposals, the Office of Research and Sponsored Programs provides information about funding sources to the University’s faculty and senior staff, and assists in all aspects of proposal preparation: creation of budgets, editing narrative sections, completion of forms, production of copies and transmitting completed applications to the sponsor. The Office of Research and Sponsored Programs also provides administrative support to the Academic Senate Committee on Research and the Institutional Review Board. 1. Grant application assistance: Research and Sponsored Programs staff members are available to help faculty with every step of the application process:
2. Funding source information: CSUEB is a member of Community of Science (COS), the largest and most comprehensive funding database on the Web. We are available to train and assist faculty to utilize the various COS services to search for funding sources, connect with other researchers, and manage curriculum vitaes. In addition to this, our office also distributes individual funding program notices to specific faculty members. We have access to several national funding databases from which we identify potential funding sources for faculty projects. We routinely utilize Internet resources to obtain federal agency information. Additionally, the office keeps detailed information about the funding interests of private foundations and maintains a library of print materials and application forms for a wide variety of federal and private agencies. 3. Proposal workshops: Research and Sponsored Programs staff regularly conduct proposal writing workshops, usually targeted to specific Colleges or Departments. Please contact Victoria Jensen, (510-885-2205, victoria.jensen@csueastbay.edu) if you would like us to make a presentation to your College or Department. 4. Internal Grant Programs: Our office provides staffing and administrative support to the Committee on Research in its award of Faculty Support Grants. 5. Human Subjects Committee: ORSP provides administrative support to the Institutional Review Board. |
