Seeking Support

Seeking Support? Here’s how we can help.

Many students face challenges during their time in college, which is why CSU East Bay offers a wide range of services and resources to help students succeed. Students may also need direct support from someone who can help address these challenges and remove complex barriers. That’s why the Case Manager role is here: to help students who are struggling work through these challenges so they focus on their personal academic success.

What happens when you meet with the Case Manager?

  • If the Case Manager contacts you and you decide to schedule an appointment, the initial meeting will be an open conversation for the student and the Case Manager to discuss the student's needs. The Case Manager will ask questions to understand the various challenges the student is facing and start to develop a plan of action with the student.
  • Depending on each student’s individual needs, follow-up meetings with the Case Manager are offered as needed.

How does Case Management collaborate with other offices on campus?

  • Collaboration is a key part of removing barriers and supporting student success. When students face various challenges, it can be overwhelming to navigate multiple university processes to receive the necessary help. The Case Manager will work with campus partners on behalf of the student through direct contact to set up meetings, inquire about processes, or receive resources. The action plan developed in the initial intake meeting will determine how much the Case Manager and the student will take on, respectively.

I received an outreach email from the Case Manager. Do I have to meet with them?

  • Meeting with the Case Manager is optional, but highly encouraged! The Case Manager is reaching out because someone cares for you and wants to get you support. If you are unsure or don’t think you need help, still consider scheduling a meeting anyway. The meeting is an opportunity to discuss your experiences and identify ways to make your experience at CSU East Bay easier.

If you are interested in connecting with the Case Manager, you can email care@csueastbay.edu or call 510-885-3591 and leave a voicemail. You can also write a Care Report for yourself to share more details about your situation before the initial meeting.

If you are interested in applying for emergency assistance (food access, emergency housing, rental assistance, or other emergency financial assistance), you can fill out the application below and someone will reach out to you.  More information on our Emergency Assistance program is available here.
