AoL Roles & Responsibilities

The following roles and responsibilities are in the process of being implemented throughout the college. We are constantly aiming for continuous improvement in better serving our roles and responsibilities. 

Faculty:

  1. Speak to AOL Manager about upcoming assessment to coordinate work and ensure proper procedures
  2. Have students take assessments or provide work
  3. Use rubrics to assess student work
  4. Forward student-level assessment results to AOL Manager
  5. Review assessment results reports for effectiveness of past improvements and need for future improvements
  6. Make recommendations to improve student learning independently or as part of an improvement team

Department Chairs:

  1. Work with AOL Manager and Program Directors to assign faculty to conduct assessments
  2. Take approved improvements from Program Committees and ensure all faculty that teach affected courses implement improvements as needed

Program Directors:

  1. Assist department chair as needed to assign faculty to conduct assessments
  2. Take part in Program Committees meetings that affect your program
  3. Disperse program assessment results to faculty
  4. Coordinate faculty closing the loop and improvement activities
  5. Forward faculty improvement recommendations to Program Committees and AOL Manager
  6. Take approved improvements from Program Committees and ensure improvements implemented
  7. Work with AOL Manager to ensure accuracy of all program reports

AOL Manager:

  1. Approach Department Chairs and Program Directors to coordinate assessments
  2. Work with faculty to ensure proper assessments involving training and conducting meetings
  3. Analyze faculty assessment results and create Assessment Results Reports
  4. Communicate assessment results to Program Committees
  5. Ensure AOL procedures and documentation are in compliance with AACSB and WASC accreditation standards
  6. Maintain AOL documentation, reports, and website
  7. Work to improve our AOL processes and student learning

Program Committees:

  1. Manage overall AOL process
  2. Review all assessment results and improvement recommendations
  3. Keep AOL Manager fully informed of all activities and provide assistance as needed
  4. Work to improve our AOL processes and student learning

Curriculum Committee:

  1. Review recommendations by Program Committees

Dean:

  1. Review recommendations Program Committee
  2. Provide AOL resources as needed
