2. Macbook Accessibility Features (9/24/2024)

Our Apple Representatives presented and demonstrated the built in Accessibility features that come installed on every MacBook. These features can help by providing access across the following domains:
  • Vision - for magnification, and having content read aloud
  • Hearing - for live captions and subtitles
  • Mobility - for using spoken commands to control the MacBook
  • Speech - to create a custom voice to speak out loud what you type
  • Cognitive - to have articles read out loud, and other features to help limit distractions

3. AI Support Systems: Tools for Writing, Research, and Studying (10/29/2024)

Catch the recording of our recent workshop on how to use AI tools to assist with Writing, Research & Studying. It goes over the Pros & Cons of AI, Tips on prompting, and demonstrations of useful AI technologies that help with writing, research papers and studying for exams and more. Ideal for students willing to use AI to better improve and optimize their work. 

Here is also a copy of our Prompt Resource Guide, it has a lot of specific example prompts (and tips) to use with different academic tasks, along with the copy of our Presentation slides as well.

For Research:
  • Semantic Scholar - AI-engineered research tool that includes certified researchers and citations.
  • Connected Papers - AI-powered research graph to find similar research papers on your topic.

For Studying:

  • Use Q-Chat to either have the AI teach you, practice with you, or quiz you.
  • Create songs on Suno based off of your vocabulary.

4. To Do or Not To Do: Task Management Tools (2/6/2025)

Task Management Tools: 
  • TickTick To Do List,  "Eisenhower" Priority Matrix, Built in Pomodoro Focus Time.
  • Google Keep - To  Do List, Note taking, reminders, voice notes, etc. 
  • Trello- Visual note taking, create multiple lists, reminders & customizable backgrounds. 
  • Goblin Tools - AI tool for task simplification and organization purposes.

5. Accessibility Tips: Microsoft Word & Google Docs (3/4/2025)

6. ChatGPT Essentials: From Basics to Benefits as Assistive Technology (4/18/2025)

Our Assistive Technology team hosted an engaging workshop exploring the use of ChatGPT as an accessibility tool. We introduced key AI features now available to students through the CSU-wide ChatGPT Premium license and demonstrated how they support learning, communication, and independence. Topics included writing support, voice interaction, visual assistance, and executive functioning tools. Live demos highlighted real-world applications for students with diverse learning needs. The session emphasized responsible use and how to integrate AI ethically into academic life. Here is the Zoom Recording along with the copy of our presentation slides.
