Freshman Orientation

Due to the ongoing pandemic, Freshman Orientation for Fall 2021 admits will be offered virtually, in a four-part series:

  • Part 1: (July 7- July 30) Attend the official University welcome via Zoom:  Select your preferred session via MyCSUEB. (hours synchronous)

    • This portion will provide an overview of the University and what to expect for orientation. You will also have opportunity to connect with our Orientation Team Leaders, who are eager to assist you and ensure you have a smooth transition to the University.  They will be available throughout summer to answer questions you may have!

    • Lastly, this portion will also provide next steps on how to access Part 2 via Blackboard.

    • Zoom details (how to prepare, expectations, overview)  will be provided in email one week prior to your session 

 Part 2: (July 7-August 17) Complete the mandatory orientation modules on Blackboard. The modules will be available beginning July 7 and must be completed before August 17, 2021.(Asynchronous)

  •  

    • Read through the tip sheet below to prepare for the Blackboard course.  The document includes details of the course, contact info for tech support, and what to expect. (BlackBoard Tips)

    • his portion will provide an overview of campus resources, services, and departments.  

    • You will also learn about your rights as a student, and what Cal State East Bay expects of you as a Pioneer

 Part 3: (August 2-6) Mandatory Campus Department Showcase/Open House

    • You will receive an invitation to attend various Pioneer Connect Sessions during the week of August 2 to learn more about campus programs and services. Think of them as "virtual open houses!" 

 Step 4:  (August - September)  Orientation On Campus Event

    • It is possible that some in-person events will be held, depending on public health conditions. Any in person programming offered will be optional. Keep on eye on your horizon email and check out Baysync for events.

Orientation program details and reminders will be emailed to incoming students. Please check your horizon email account frequently.
