PAC Job Description 2022/2023 AY
Job Description: Peer Academic Coaches (PACs) work with Cal State East Bay freshman both in the General Studies (GS) classrooms and in a one-on-one case management style to support students in developing good student skills. In the classroom, PACs act as student advocates and work to foster the classroom community.
Additionally, PACs support a small number of students individually to develop good student skills and implement independent learning skills.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Must be an enrolled student, eligible to work as a Student Assistant for the 2020/2021 Academic Year
- Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher OR GPA of 3.0 or higher in the last two consecutive terms
- Must be able to attend our 6 pre-hire workshops on Fridays from 9:30am-11am (dates are 3/25, 4/8, 4/15, 4/22, 4/29 & 5/6) and pre-hire required experience.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to track multiple students’ progress in courses
- Applicants must be extremely reliable
- Able to communicate complex concepts in understandable terms
- Ability to work in a diverse environment with a variety of students and faculty
- Applicants should be patient, friendly, positive and encouraging
- Effective problem-solving ability
- Familiarity with MyCSUEB, Google Calendar, BlackBoard, Horizon Email, Library systems and the various departments used by students on campus including Financial Aid, Admissions, Student Health and Counseling Services, etc.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience serving as a tutor, peer-mentor, or academic coach
- Native CSU East Bay student with experience in Foundations of Success course
- Sophomore or Junior standing at time of hire (2nd semester Freshman can apply)
Transfer PAC Job Description 2022/2023 AY
Job Description: Transfer Peer Academic Coaches (TPACs) work with Cal State East Bay new transfer students in a one-on-one case management style to support students in developing good student skills. TPACs support a small caseload of students one-on one to develop good student skills, foster independent learning skills and help students make a successful transition to East Bay. TPACs may also work alongside faculty in transfer specific courses to foster the classroom community and as student advocates.
Minimum Qualifications:
