Certain student groups and departments host special celebrations for their graduating students. These celebrations are not organized by the Commencement Office, please contact the appropriate office or person in charge of the celebration with questions.

Cultural Graduation Celebrations are held in addition to the official university commencement ceremonies. Cultural Graduation Celebrations provide students the opportunity to publicly thank and honor the people who helped them on their journey. The ceremonies are facilitated through partnerships with students, faculty, and staff to honor the diversity of our students, acknowledge their identities, and commemorate successful college careers.

To register for a Cultural Graduation Celebration, you will need to complete the registration form on BaySync for the cultural graduation you would like to participate in. Links will be posted on this page once registration opens.

Chicanx/Latinx Graduation Celebration

Lavender Graduation Celebration

There is no Registration Fee for Lavender Graduation Celebration

You MUST submit BOTH your registration application AND pay the registration fee to participate in the cultural graduation ceremony. The fees for cultural graduations must be paid on CASHNet after you have submitted your registration on BaySync.

Stoles are included in the registration fee for the cultural graduation celebration.

No, you can participate in as many cultural graduation ceremonies as you like. However, you will need to register for each cultural grad separately and pay the fee for each graduation celebration ceremony.

No, you can participate in University Commencement and as many cultural graduation celebrations as you like.

Check back with the cultural graduation committee leads. Each cultural graduation celebration will typically only order enough stoles for those participating in the cultural grad celebration.

Regalia is required for the Black, Chicanx/Latinx, & Asian Pacific Islander Graduation Celebrations. The Lavender Graduation Celebration does not require you to wear your regalia.

 

No, you do not need tickets for your guests to attend. The cultural graduation celebrations are more intimate ceremonies so you can bring as many friends, family members, and loved ones as you like to celebrate your accomplishments!*
