- Activate your NetID and check your Horizon email - both required for university communications.
- Log in to Canvas using your NetID. Your courses appear here once enrolled.
- Verify your tech - laptop or desktop computer, current browser (Chrome, Firefox, Edge, or Safari), browser checker, reliable internet, webcam and microphone for Zoom.
- Walk through Canvas getting started tutorials - step-by-step Canvas guides for students.
- Bookmark the help line - 510-885-2700 for 24/7 Canvas support.
Student support services
Cal State East Bay offers tutoring and library support to every student, and both are fully available online — you do not have to come to campus to use them.

The Student Center for Academic Achievement (SCAA) offers subject tutoring, writing tutoring, and Supplemental Instruction - all available online. Appointments are booked through the Nimbus Learning app.
