About the Advising Resource Center

We promote undergraduate student success by providing holistic support and engaging educational advising sessions that empower and validate students’ academic journeys. In collaboration with the campus community, academic advisors encourage students to be active partners in exploring and developing plans to achieve their education, career, and life goals.

Our Mission

Students will be provided with consistent, robust, and holistic advising supported by a team of advisors housed within College Centers and Signature Programs. Advising will be aligned with students’ major and career goals, supportive of student identities, and focused on improving retention and graduation rates through strong relationships and inclusive communities.

Our Vision

The model allows for a strengths-based approach for faculty and professional advisors to use their role-specific skills in a coordinated effort to serve students better. The expanded college-based advising model allows for faculty and professional advisors to maintain manageable caseloads, granting more time to work meaningfully with students. Faculty and professional advisors will support each other to advise students toward timely graduation.

Our Change

Why We Changed

In previous years, students shared that navigating university requirements often felt complex and disconnected. Feedback indicated a need for advising that was more closely aligned with students’ majors, offered greater appointment availability, and provided a stronger sense of connection and support.

 

In response, Cal State East Bay has intentionally redesigned its advising structure over the past several years. This redesigned model ensures that every undergraduate student is supported by a coordinated Success Team from the start of their academic journey.
