Notice of Public Hearings

Cal State East Bay is holding public hearings to change existing supplemental criteria for its pre-licensure nursing program admission with the addition of a personal statement. The request to require a personal statement to admission criteria follows both national practice and refines the university’s ability to make mission-based decisions. The intent of adding a personal statement category is to elicit information indicating an applicant’s personal qualities, strengths, skills and abilities that contribute to success in the nursing profession. The goal of nursing admissions criteria is to select those applicants who are most likely to fulfill their own goals, the mission of the Cal State East Bay nursing program and the mission of the university. The addition of a personal statement category updates the university’s admission process and enhances its ability to meet this goal.

What is being planned?

Notice is hereby given that Cal State East Bay will hold public hearings to receive comments on the proposed changes in admission policies related to the university’s nursing pre-licensure nursing program.
