Provost Search Update

Dear Cal State East Bay community,

I am writing today to update you on our search for our next regularly appointed Provost/Vice President for Academic Affairs.

Fortunately, we were able to recruit a diverse and qualified pool of approximately 30 applicants indicating strong interest in our university and our mission. 

However, given our quick timeframe, several members of the search committee were unable to make themselves available to perform search committee duties--reviewing files, identifying and interviewing semi-finalists, and identifying finalists--so that we could invite finalists to campus prior to the end of the academic year and faculty contract period.  

Therefore, in accordance with Academic Senate policy, I will continue the search in the next academic year with a new committee.

I want to thank the current search committee members for their willingness to serve, including co-chairs Professor Michelle Rippy and VP Evelyn Buchanan who I know worked diligently to keep the process on track.

I plan to announce the appointment of an interim provost at a later date.
