College of Health Commencement 2026
May 16th, 2026, was the College of Health’s first Commencement ceremony. With over 600 graduating students across its five departments, the College of Health has concluded its first academic year since being formed in July 2025. This celebration of achievement, resilience, and service as graduates crossed the stage surrounded by their proud family, friends, faculty, and staff.
Our College of Health graduates were commended for their perseverance in the challenges of their academic journeys and for embodying the mission and values of the College of Health and CSU East Bay. Faculty and program leaders celebrated not only the academic accomplishments of the graduating class but also the integrity, empathy, and determination students demonstrated throughout their time at CSU East Bay.
RSCA Grant Awarded: Advancing Simulation-Based Assessment
A faculty-led project titled “Development of AACN-Aligned Simulation Rubrics for Competency-Based Assessment in Pre-Licensure Nursing Education” has been selected for funding through the AY 2026–27 RSCA Support Grant program.
The project is led by Principal Investigator Dr. Canyon Steinzig, with Co-Principal Investigators Dr. Maria Cho and Dr. Kate Shade. This work aims to develop standardized, AACN-aligned simulation rubrics to support competency-based assessment and enhance consistency in student evaluation across pre-licensure nursing programs.
This initiative represents an important step in strengthening simulation-based education and advancing evidence-informed assessment practices within BSN nursing education.

MSW Students Presented Capstone Posters

The Department of Social Work held its MSW Capstone Poster Session in early May 2026! This celebration was one of the largest, with almost 100 graduates.
This celebration of the graduating class of practitioner-scholars underscores the importance of research in Social Work practice.
Congratulations to the first cohort of graduates from the Extended MSW Program and the first cohort of the new Advanced Standing MSW Program!
