Freshmen and Sophomores

Students with Questions About GE Credit for Transferred Courses

Courses transferred to CSUEB from an outside institution may or may not be approved for GE (including Overlay, Second Composition, or Code) credit, which is noted in your Transfer Credit Report and Degree Audit Report in your MyCSUEB portal.  If you think a course you transferred in may be eligible to clear a GE area, please reach out to your academic advisor.  Only academic advisors may submit a GE Petition on behalf of a student.  

Information About GE Credit for AP Exams

Depending on your score on a specific AP exam, you may receive GE and/or major credit.  Go to the Advanced Placement (AP) Exam Credit section of the catalog for specific details.  A quick reference chart is available here.

  • August 24 - December 18, 2020: Drop in or by appointment on the following days/times:
    • Mondays 9:00 - 11:30 AM
    • Tuesdays & Wednesdays 1:00 - 5:30 PM

  1. Log into BayAdvisor at https://www.csueastbay.edu/aps/the-bay-advisor/
  2. Click on "Schedule an appointment"
  3. Choose "advising"
  4. Select a service category: "GE Office Academic Advising"
  5. Select the service
  6. Hit "next"
  7. Choose the location: "General Education Office"
  8. Choose a staff member: there's none to choose here, so click "next"
  9. Click on "Online Drop in"

Once you've completed the above steps, you will be next in line to be seen.  The GE Office will text you when your appointment slot is coming up.  All meetings/appointments will be held via Zoom.  There are no in-person, in-office appointment.
