American Language Program re-branded as Global Academy

The American Language Program (ALP) at CSUEB has offered a lot more than English language instruction for the past 45 years. In order to better reflect our broader mission and goals, we will use the new name “Global Academy” as the umbrella organization for all of our non-degree programs (including the ALP and the Visiting Student Program, Paralegal Studies Program, International Business Certificate and short-term customized programs) for international students/clients. Faculty Spotlight: a sabbatical in Iceland

Professor of English and the Academic Senate Chair for AY 2021-2022, Sarah Nielsen, spent her sabbatical in Iceland. Her five week stay was as part of a sabbatical project documenting her own learning of Icelandic in three contexts: a free, online Icelandic survival course offered by the University of Iceland, taken before the trip; a one-week intensive class offered by the University Center of the Westfjords; and three weeks living with an Icelandic family. She was gracious enough to share her informative and entertaining travel journal of the experience with us. Read More
