Blended 4+1 Program (B.S. + M.S. in Mathematics)
This program is set to start in Fall 2025. Current B.S. students eligible to apply will be able to do so as of September 15th, 2025. Applications close on November 15, 2025.
Blended 4+1 Program (B.S. + M.S.)
Program Description
The Blended 4+1 Bachelor of Science/Master of Science (BS/MS) Program in Math at California State University East Bay offers students an accelerated pathway to earn both degrees in five years. This innovative program is designed for dedicated math students who wish to deepen their knowledge, refine their skills, and expand their career opportunities in the dynamic field of math.
Building on the strengths of our diverse and inclusive undergraduate program, the blended program integrates rigorous academic training with advanced studies in Applied Mathematics, such as Numerical Analysis, Differential Equations, Applied Linear Algebra Applied Real Analysis, and the ability to delve into specific interests. In all our courses we encourage student engagement, collaboration, and active learning.
Eligibility Requirements and Application Process
Academic History- Complete a minimum of 60 units and no more than 90 units towards the BS degree (juniors in the program)
- Complete lower division math requirements with a GPA of 3.0 or better;
- Have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better, or GPA of 3.0 or better in the last 60 semester units;
- Complete all lower division GE requirements.
Your Application will include the following:
- Statement of Purpose: A one-page document outlining the student's objectives for pursuing the blended BS/MS program, discussing academic and mathematical goals, and explaining how the program aligns with long-term aspirations.
- Faculty Recommendations: Two letters of recommendation from Math Department faculty who can assess the student's readiness for graduate-level study based on academic performance.
