Welcome to Cal State East Bay

Cal State East Bay invites you and your family to participate in Orientation, the key to a successful beginning to your East Bay experience!

 

Hello all incoming CSUEB Pioneers!

We are excited to announce the dates of Summer 2022 Orientation! Orientation is required for all incoming Fall 2022 students and will take place in person this summer. We are looking forward to welcoming you to Cal State East Bay.

Registration Process:

Fall 2022 Orientation registration is open! Once you have submitted your Statement of Intent to Register (SIR), you will be able to register for Orientation through MyCSUEB. To sign up for orientation, please go to MYCSUEB and sign in. When you sign in click on the classic view then on the applicant view and once you are on that view to the right there is going to be a tab that says student orientation. Click that and you will be able to choose the orientation of your choosing. If you are unable to select an Orientation date, the specific Orientation program has reached capacity and we request that you choose from an available session. Will there be online orientation this summer?

We advise all students to attend one of the in-person orientations being offered between May-July. This will be your best chance to meet staff, faculty and advisors in person. If you are fully online or not able to attend an in-person orientation session we advise for you to wait on registering and stay tuned to email later his summer for online make up sessions in August. Orientaiton is not tied to your class registration so Transfer Students and online students should sign up for classes as normal. 

Orientation Information:

There are specific orientations for Freshman, Concord, Transfer, Graduate and International Students. Make sure you pick the date that coincides with your specific orientation. Also check out the Guest and Family Registration sections to see orientation options for your families and guests!

FRESHMAN ORIENTATION 

at Cal State East Bay is an exciting and engaging program designed to help you start a successful journey at the university. At Freshman Orientation you will learn about essential campus resources, receive important academic guidance, meet new people and explore the many opportunities available at Cal State East Bay. Freshman orientation is a mandatory two-day program for all freshmen, and students are required to attend both days. You also have the option to stay overnight! International students will have the option to attend a Freshman International Orientation in August.

Freshman Orientation Dates: 

8:00am-5:30pm - All of our Freshman orientation sessions are two full days (roughly 8:00am - 5:30pm each day) in-person at the Hayward campus. For each session we also offer an optional Pioneer Overnight Experience (running 5:30pm - 11:30pm the first night).

PIONEER OVERNIGHT EXPERIENCE

If you want to maximize your orientation experience, get a feel for campus life, and have the opportunity to stay overnight in the residence halls, join us for our Pioneer Overnight Experience. The evening willbe filled with exciting and engaging activities, chances to connect with your fellow incoming classmates, and an overnight stay in our Pioneer Heights housing. Join usfor this exciting opportunity! Space is limited and reservations will be granted on a first-come-first-served basis, so register quickly! A $65 overnight fee will cover the cost of housing and evening activities. *Make sure to Register for your overnight sessions in mycsueb when you register for Orientation.

TRANSFER ORIENTATION 

is an important program that will help you make a smooth transition from community college to Cal State East Bay. You will learn about essential campus resources and student support services, receive academic advising and talk to Financial Aid and Admissions representatives. Transfer orientation is required for all transfer students.  
  • Why Orientation? As a transfer student, many aspects of the college environment are already familiar to you. However, Cal State East Bay is a new institution with new expectations and procedures, new academic requirements, and exciting new challenges. Attendance will be a valuable investment in a student’s future college career!
  • If You are a Transfer and you plan to attend the Concord Campus for most of your Classes you should sign up for the Concord orientation. Students planning to attend concord these are the majors offered there. Concord Transfer orientation majors: Business, Nursing, Liberal Studies, Psychology, Sociology, Criminal Justice

 

Can my family/guests attend Transfer Orientation?

·Yes! Guests may accompany you to the Transfer Orientation. $15 fee* is required for each guest. Guest fee will pay for parking, lunch, and program for the day. To register your guests, click here: https://forms.gle/ctVtfPHH7Ex6weq16

May 19th - 4pm-6pm (registration closed)

FAMILY ORIENTATION: 

In conjunction with Orientation, Cal State East Bay offers Freshman Family Orientation, a one-day program designed to address the many questions and concerns that parents and family members have as their students prepare for college. The fee for Family Orientation is $35 for the first family member and $15 for each additional family member. Family orientation is a full-day program that takes place separately but on the same days as Freshman Orientation.

Can my family/guests attend Freshman Orientation?

Yes! Family members and additional guests may attend their own Family Orientation, which is specifically designed for your guests. Family Orientations will occur on the Friday of all Freshman Orientation programs.

1st Guest - $35; Guest #2 or more- Additional $15
*No cost for children under 10 years

What is Spanish Language Family Orientation? 

Though some sessions are translated in Spanish at all Family programs, Ven Conoce Nuestra Universidad is offered entirely in the Spanish language. INTERNATIONAL STUDENT & GRADUATE AND POST BAC ORIENTATION

  • If you are an international student on F1/J1 visa, you are encouraged to join one of the Freshmen or Transfer orientations. All Orientation dates will be available to you from June - August. In addition to the published dates, there are two catch-all orientations for transfer students for those who can not attend any of the earlier orientation dates. These options will open later in the summer. You will see this as options when students attempt to register on their MyCSUEB.
  • Graduate Students will have a one day orientation in August to meet faculty and staff and well as fellow graduate student cohort
International Student Online Orientation: - Available for Freshman and Transfer International Students - 10am-2pm
Friday August 12th
