Fall 2024 New International Student Orientation

 

Virtual Pre-Departure Orientations 

We hosted six virtual pre-departure workshops from March - July 2024 to review everything new international students for Fall 2024 need to know before arriving in the U.S.  Admitted students received an email with the zoom registration links. If you were unable to join us live, please see the slides for last session here 

 

In-Person Immigration Session/Orientation 

The Center for International Education will be hosting a mandatory full-day in-person New F-1 International Student Orientation for incoming undergraduate and graduate students.

Please plan to stay all day until you are dismissed around 4:30 pm. Lunch will be provided. 

Register via this Google Form. You will need to be signed in to your horizon email account to signup for the orientation. Orientation is only open to F-1 and J-1 students.

Parking- We recommend parking in Lot A. Do not park in rows labeled Faculty/Staff Parking. Parking permits are required and may be requested via the orientation registration form sent to admitted students by email.  If you fail to request a parking permit by August 2, you will have to purchase a parking permit ($10) for the day at a kiosk on campus. 

The free campus shuttle bus will be running on the summer schedule.  If you are planning to take the shuttle from the Hayward or Castro Valley BART station, please check the schedule so you can plan to arrive on time.

 

Fall 2024 Online Check-In Procedure

For new international students who will be inside the USA for Fall 2024, you must complete the virtual "check-in" procedure after your arrival by submitting the following documents to this Google Form. You will need to sign in using your HORIZON email. 

  1. New Student Information Form- this must include a valid USA address and US phone number. Do NOT complete the check-in procedure until you can complete this form.
  2. Passport- copy of your bio page in your passport
  3. I-94 (www.cbp.gov/i94)
    • I-94 Record page 

If you are transferring from another school in the U.S. (from any level - high school, undergraduate, or graduate) as an F-1 student, you must complete the transfer of your SEVIS record to Cal State East Bay within 15 days of the beginning of the semester.
