2016 Community Engagement Partners

Youth Seed

Youth SEED (Youth Social Entrepreneurship for Equitable Development) was built on a foundation of 3 years of social entrepreneurship training for Bay Area youth, in which 25 youth led social enterprises were funded and launched. Originally known as Ashoka's Youth Venture San Francisco Bay Area, Youth SEED was created to advance our unique model of using youth social entrepreneurship as a vehicle for equitable development and to fully utilize our position in one of the most thriving social entrepreneurship ecosystems in the world. With the support of Youth Venture and Ashoka, we have now transitioned to fiscal sponsorship with Community Initiatives in San Francisco, and we are ready to continue supporting the next generation of social entrepreneurs in the Bay Area.

Roots of Success

Roots of success is an empowering educational program that prepares youth and adults who come from communities heavily impacted by poverty, unemployment and environmental injustice for environmental careers and to improve conditions in their communities. We seek to address two of the most pressing issues of our time-poverty and ecological destruction. The issues may appear different, but there is a single solution: provide people with pathways out of poverty by preparing them for living-wage jobs that improve environmental quality.

Peralta Hacienda

The mission of Friends of Peralta Hacienda Historical Park is to promote understanding, historical healing and community amid change and diversity. We present and interpret the untold history of the Peralta rancho and the stories of the Fruitvale community today, giving voice to the many cultures that have created-and are still transforming-California.

The links between student success and community engagement are inextricably related to our goal of continued collaboration and partnership with campus programs and departments, including the Center for Community Engagement. These opportunities enable us to support student equity and success.

We appreciate the efforts of Mary D’Alleva and the Center for Community Engagement and hope to see the continued success of our CEI placements.
