Apply to the MSW Program
Welcome and thank you for your interest in applying to our program!
We are now accepting applications for Fall 2023! Applications must be received by December 1, 2022. Please review the information below about our program options as it has been recently updated. Scroll down for the application form and instructions.
For Fall 2023, we are pleased to be able to return to our full-time, two-year program in Hayward requiring two weekdays per week in person on campus throughout the academic year. The academic year runs from mid-August through mid-May with a break between fall and spring semesters. Classes meet on Mondays and Wednesdays in the first year and Mondays and Tuesdays in the second year. Students take three to four courses (12-16 academic units) per semester. There is also an online component of asynchronous work that should take 1 to 1.5 hours per week for each course. This does not include your readings for the courses or assigned homework. This option requires a field-internship of 1,080 hours that take place in-person two weekdays per week in the first year and three weekdays per week in the second year in the greater San Francisco Bay Area.
Additionally, pending availability of funding, we plan to launch a new part-time three-year mostly online program requiring weekly synchronous (Zoom) classes plus up to two in person meeting days per month on our Hayward campus for practice skill labs. Students will take two courses (8 academic units) per semester including summers. Students in this program will also complete 1,080 hours of internship; internship will begin in the summer before the second year and is anticipated to require approximately 12 hours minimum per week on weekdays. By December 30, 2022, we will be able to provide an update about the part-time program. At this time, we anticipate being able to offer only our Community Mental Health concentration for this option.
